Loaded with history or smart and trendy, by the water’s edge or in an iconic district, a gourmet haunt or dedicated to dance – open-air venues or, in French, “guinguettes”, have returned to liven up the Parisian summer. At the Compagnie Hôtelière de Bagatelle, we like to share our favourites.

A Parisian tradition

Dive into the lively, working-class history of Paris and discover the atmosphere of the Belle Époque’s finest hours at La Bonne Franquette. This famous inn in the heart of Montmartre retains the memory of the Impressionists who frequented it.  A rustic menu, an interior garden that will make you forget that the city is just metres away, and a cabaret space are the ingredients of a great evening! Just as traditional in spirit, La Javelle, with its food trucks and free entertainment, welcomes you and your family throughout the day and well into the night. Sway to the chords of a swing orchestra, enjoy an ice cream or just make the most of the water on the banks of the Seine in the 15th arrondissement.

Constantly reinvented

More than ever, the guinguette concept is evolving according to our desires. Looking for calm and refinement? Visit the Bois de Boulogne and its Lower Lake: Chalet des Îles awaits. Explore its inspired menu or dance until dawn to an eclectic programme of music. Want trendy clubbing combined with an Italian buffet in the open air? Le Fer à Cheval, a small blue cottage nestled in the Parc de Saint-Cloud, welcomes you every weekend until 4 am! Finally, mix the flavours and savoir-vivre of Camargue with the guinguette spirit on the Rosa Bonheur barge that’s docked at the Invalides port just a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower.  There, you can sample tapas and wood-fired pizza to the sound of rock or a Sevillian band.
